Na Dunaju je študiral filozofijo, nato pa v Ljubljani in Gradcu urejal več časopisov. Za slovenski kulturni in gledališki razvoj je pomembno njegovo prizadevanje za ustanovitev slovenske univerze in izdelava točnega načrta dela slovenskega profesionalnega gledališča z zaposlenimi igralci. Vsa njegova prizadevanja so žal ostala nerealizirana. Celo pesmi </ins>in <ins style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">prozo, ki jih je objavljal v Carniolii, so bile v nemščini.
