Življenjepis

Tone Gogala, slovenski igralec, se je rodil 10. januarja 1945 v Kranju. Leta 1964 je pričel študirati dramsko igro na AGRFT v Ljubljani in že med študijem nastopal v SNG Drama v Ljubljani. Leta 1970 je postal član igralskega ansambla tega gledališča. Med leti 1981 in 1993 je bil član tržaške igralske zasedbe gledališča SSG Trst, nato pa se je leta 1993 zopet zaposlil v SNG Drama v Ljubljani. Med letoma 1996 in 1998 je bil direktor Šentjakobskega gledališča, kjer je tudi poučeval igralstvo ter bil umetniška vodja.

Nato je zapustil igralske vrste ter med letoma 1998 in 2004 postal generalni konzul RS v ZDA v Clevelandu. Odtlej je bil zaposlen v diplomaciji, nazadnje kot diplomat na slovenski ambasadi v New Delhiju v Indiji. Po odsluženem mandatu se je leta 2011 upokojil.

Leta 1980 je za vlogo Truffaldina v Goldonijevi igri ''Sluga dveh gospodov prejel Severjevo nagrado. Veliko je nastopal v radijskih in televizijskih igrah in nadaljevankah ter tudi v slovenskih filmih in koprodukcijah.


Tone Gogala

A Slovenian actor and diplomat, was born on 10 January 1945 in Kranj.

Tone Gogala began studying drama at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television of the University of Ljubljana in 1964. Already during his studies he performed in Slovenian National Theatre Drama in Ljubljana. In 1970 he became a member of the acting ensemble of this theatre. Between 1981 and 1993 he was a member of the Slovenian Permanent Theatre in Trieste, and then in 1993 he returned to work at the SNT Drama in Ljubljana. Between 1996 and 1998 he was the director of the Šentjakob Theatre, where he also taught acting and was the artistic director. As an actor, he toured with performances in France, the USA, Australia, Russia, Georgia, Latvia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, Canada and Hungary. In 1980, he received the Sever Award for the role of Truffaldino in Goldoni's play The Servant of Two Gentlemen. He has appeared in many radio and television plays and series, as well as in Slovenian films and co-productions. As a producer and actor, he conceived the monodramas Andrej Smole - znamenimi Slovenec (1993) and Polnočno kričanje (Levstik's Insulting of the National Champions; 1995) - both written specifically for his performance by Matjaž Kmecl. As a producer and one of the performers, he also designed the integral audio artistic narrative of the Holy Scriptures - the Gospels (1991). He then left the acting ranks and between 1998 and 2004 became the Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia in the USA in Cleveland. Since then, he has been employed in diplomacy, most recently as a diplomat at the Slovenian Embassy in New Delhi, India. After serving his term, he retired in 2011. As a diplomat, he received several awards: the Key to the City of Chisholm in Duluth (both in Minnesota, USA); the Cook County Award for Excellence (Ohio, USA); the title of Honorary Citizen of the cities of San Francisco (California, USA) and Indianapolis (Indiana, USA), and an Honorary Citizen of Indiana (USA).
